He wasn’t from here.
Not that we’re immune to hate
but he wasn’t from here
We are collaborative and open
We are hopeful
We’re contributors and creators
We’re thoughtful and engaged.
No, he wasn’t one of us.
And yet, “Us” and “them” is so much of the problem, it’s an easy road fraught with hidden mines

The world is not yet as it ought to be, neither is my city and neither am I. Yet, I reject apathy and despair believing I can make an impact for good.
As we mourn and live in the wake of such tragedy, we want to remind ourselves not to give up the hope of making an impact for good.
Hope is so often found in the ones around us. So we push against polarization and prize conversation even more these days. We’ll hope you’ll find a way to do that in the days and weeks to come.
